Real life inspiration – Heather and Matthew
This is one of the inspirational real life wedding blogs written by one of my previous clients, Heather. Originally posted on my Sparkleastar website, read on to find out about her beautiful wedding day.
About the wedding
Wedding date: Saturday 21st August 2010
Venue: Both the ceremony and reception were held at Ingestre Hall, Ingestre Staffordshire. I have a real soft spot for Ingestre as it is where we used to go for music courses when we were at school. The staff at Ingestre are wonderful, very relaxed and friendly. It is completely up to you which suppliers you choose, we chose Jenkinsons to do our catering and were glad we did – the food was exquisite.
Music: Rugley Power Station Brass Band played for us just after the ceremony. They were a great band and even managed to save the day by providing directions to some lost guests. Our evening music was supplied by All Funked Up who had the dance floor packed all night.
Weather: A mixture of sun and showers which resulted in a beautiful double rainbow.
Highlight/Memorable Moment: Me and my bridesmaids getting soaked in the rain just before the ceremony.
Something Borrowed: The pearl bracelet that my bridesmaid wore on her wedding day and that her mum wore on hers.
Something Blue: A homemade crochet garter, blue with claret ribbon – my husband is an Aston Villa fan.
Something Old: Flowers from my mum’s wedding tiara wound into my bouquet.
Something New: A very dainty watch, a present from my sister so I could keep track of the time.
Honeymoon: 4 days in Vegas followed by 9 days in the Hawaiian Island of Maui, booked through Trailfinders.
Suppliers of daytime wedding dress: La Vida Horsham, a sample bargain at £50. The staff were as attentive as you would expect them to be if you were spending £1000.
Suppliers of evening dress: Pantiles Bride Tunbridge Wells. I had always dreamed about getting my wedding dress from here, the staff are fantastic and it really is a luxurious experience.
Suppliers of tiara and necklace: Sparkleastar (now PeachTreePig) – I didn’t want a tiara until I tried on one made by Sarah at Sparkleastar. Not only was it beautiful, it was light and amazingly comfortable. My necklace was also from Sparkleastar, both my dresses had low backs and I had been searching everywhere for a necklace that dropped down my back but couldn’t find what I wanted. I described what I had in mind to Sarah and she turned it into a gorgeous necklace!
Hair Dresser: I have naturally frizzy hair so I have it chemically straightened using the Yuko System. My hairdresser straightened and cut my hair about two weeks before the wedding and I styled my own hair on the day. My hairdresser is a perfectionist and comes highly recommended – Yuhie hairsalon, Hampstead.
Photographer: Barry Kahn Photography – Barry and his wife Louise work as a team and produced the most amazing photo’s. They got so many wonderful shots and we weren’t aware most of them were being taken!
Florist: I did the flowers myself with a lot of help from my bridesmaids and my parents. We purchased the flowers wholesale from Sunflower Cash & Carry in Erdington. The flowers were a bargain and lasted ages.
Band: All Funked Up – the best way to get your guests up on the dancefloor.
